I'm in need of a new haircut, but don't know what to doo! (pics included)?

Question

My hair right now is dark brown, with lighter highlights, very long layers, and goes to about the middle of my back. But the sad thing is, about 2 1/2 inches are just dead ends and I'm scared to just get a trim, because stylists always manage to make it shorter than you like. So I thought if I brought in a picture, it'd be easier to get what I want.

I also like to wear my hair wavy a lot, and the shorter it gets, the wavier it gets so I don't want it too short. (My waves are the beachy type (long and loose), and my hair is really thick. So any comments will help on what to do!

well since you have beachy hair i definitely suggest the third pic one. (p.s. the last pic doesn't work)

If your are afraid of getting it cut too short then just have the stylist take 2-3 inches off, and add some extra layers through out, still able to wear it straight, and wavy and pull it back as well..
