My hair is so stubborn, the ends are so dead it feels like hay or straw.
i don't even put any products on my hair, nor do i use any heat to damage it.
i haven't done anything to my hair except for shampoo & conditioner, yet it still gets worse.
i wash my hair every 2 days cause it gets oily really fast.
how do i fix my dead ends?

Hi, I’m Julie and I work for Pantene. Split ends (or dead ends) are a result of stresses that push hair to its breaking point, and are every woman’s nightmare! Each hair fibre is enclosed by the cuticle, which protects the more fragile core of the hair fibre from damage. Heat, hairstyling stress, excessive friction and even natural weathering can damage the cuticle and degrade its protective abilities, causing damaged hair. If enough damage is inflicted, the cuticle is no longer able to keep the inner fibre components tightly wrapped, which can lead to split ends.

Taking steps to maintain healthy hair also helps secure the health of your cuticle and is therefore the best way to prevent split ends. As you are just using shampoo and conditioner, make sur you use a suitable product that will moisturise your hair well. Using a conditioner every time you shampoo your hair can minimize the damage that natural weathering can cause and help prevent the formation of split ends. Our Smooth & Sleek range will help nourish your hair and give you this smooth/healthy look. This range includes a leave-in conditioner which I would recommend to lock that extra bit of moisture in.

Also, use only a wide-tooth comb to detangle wet hair, don’t vigorously towel-dry wet hair, and brush it only when necessary. One helpful tip (proven to be very effective in my case) is to be gentle enough when you are shampooing not to stimulate the oil producing glands in the hair; try to avoid conditioner at the roots, apply in the middle or on the ends.

Because there is no permanent solution to split ends, you will ultimately need to trim them to prevent split ends from propagating and becoming split fibres. Good luck! I know how frustrating this is and I hope these tips will help.

Ok... to be honest, you can't SAVE them, but you can prevent new ones from happening. You'll still have to cut the dead ends off first. If you have split ends... brushing through tangles is the best way to GET them. and these little end-hair "squigglies". I don't know how long your hair is, but if it's long enough to brade.. then go for it. if your hair is oily on top (head) but dry at the bottom... you still might have to buy some hair moisturizing lotion or hair OIL... just for the ends tho. brading will do much help after applying those kind of products. it keeps the moisture in. (If the dead ends are up to 3 to 5 inches... don't cut that much! at least 2 inches if that bad. the rest can still be saved... I had this once and I live in a dry... DRY place, but I've managed to keep my hair moisturized... and it's down, almost past, my butt!) I hope this helped! :3

You can either do 1 of 3 things

1) Have a stylist cut ALL your dead ends off. Depending how many inches your dead ends are, your hair could be shorter dramatically

2) Have a stylist trim, but not cut off, the dead ends. This will allow your hair to still be at its same length, and manage your ends

3) Maybe cut your hair into a shorter style for the time being, allowing your hair to grow from scratch. A bob, A pixie cut or a rihanna inspired crop. That way your stylist and you can have a fresh start and manage your ends better

All solutions will help your dead ends, which will also make your hair grow better :)

YOU DO NOT FIX DEAD SPLIT ENDS, U CUT THEM OFF AND START OVER. Your hair sounds terrible dry from over washing or stripping it of natural oils. yes cut it, get rid of dead dry split ends which are going to crack and break off anyways. use a goodmoisturizing conditioner and shampoo. continue to stay away from excessive heat and if using heat use a thermal heat spray to protect hair.

i think trimming is the only way to save them, it can be only 1 - 2 inches, but will make a difference. Also get some good quality (high end) spray for dead ends - ie. Toni & Guy, Trevor Sorbie etc.
