How do I dye my hair from black to dark brown with caramel highlights?

Ive never dyed my hair before and i think it will be kind of hard to dye my hair because of the dark black color and thick texture of my hair. Im adding links of pictures so you can see kind of how i want my hair. ALso, what kind of hair dye do you recommend for a cheap price? (25-under)

It's extremely hard to go to any color once you colored your hair black I'm a cosmetologist (hairdresser) and to be honest I would strip the black out or a healthier way is to let your natural hair grow in and then color it..
