Ok, my mom is a hair dresser and she doesn't want me to dye my hair with Manic Panic.i have use Manic Panic only one time before. I've been dying my hair for around 5years and sense my mom is a hair dresser she always does it. I love manic panic colors so much bu she says tat manic panic kills your hair, and my dad thinks so to. However really want o use it, my hair is a little damaged but not really because we take extremely good care of it. So i was wondering how bad it actually i so i can convince her to let me use it?

I know this sounds bad, but your mother is wrong. Just plain wrong. Manic panic does not damage hair at all, the only damage you receive is from the lightening it requires to achieve the unnatural shades. Semi/demi permanent hair dyes like manic panic are not formulated the same as permanent dyes, they hold no harmful harsh chemicals. Instead of actually changing the color of a strand it more of coats it, and then slowly washes away, unlike permanent dyes. They are "vegetable-based"! On top of that manic panic puts conditioning ingredients into there dye so that while you dye it, it actually conditions the hair. I have been using manic panic for years now, on both myself and friends. It's harmless.

This is going to sound crazy, but I color my hair with Manic Panic every Sunday....since, well, For-EVER.

For years I used Loreal High Color in Magenta, and before that Feria Hair color in intense reds. There is far more ammonia in red tints than any other, and I would wash the red out in less than a week..... I am a Postal Worker, and you'd be surprised if you saw how filthy I get, I HAVE TO WASH. (Side note: Using a cleansing Conditioner like RenPure is AMAZING!! Saves the color, cleanses, and smells awesome!)

My hair was a mess until I started playing with Manic Panic, now its much healthier!!

If you over process using bleach you can really help the situation by uksing ION 2 part Repair Solutions: Protein and Hydration.

Does dyeing hair with Manic Panic destroy the hair and is it bad for my health?

No! Bleaching the hair, however, does alter the condition of the hair as it strips the hair of not only color but nutrients as well. The nice thing about Manic Panic hair color is that it can be used to fill the hair, counter-balancing the effects of bleaching, thus restoring elasticity and vitality to the hair.

Problems can arise when people overlap with bleach (applying bleach to hair that has already been bleached) and over-process hair. We strongly suggest that people who are unfamiliar with the use of bleach consult a professional who can analyze the condition of their hair. Bleaching results are permanent.

It's not amazing for your hair, but it's honestly not that bad. Just ask her if she can do a deep conditioning treatment on you (since she's a hair dresser) after you dye it. As long as you condition it, it won't be a problem. (:

i have used it mannyyy times and the bleach is the bad part. when you bleach your hair, your hair kind of splits. and manic panic hairdye fills it in kinda so, it kinda helps.(:
