Hair growth for black women isn't all that difficult. My grandmother, although not fully black, but has a high percentage of African ancestry, has hair to her waist and mine is near the middle of my back after cutting it to less than 2in long about a year ago. Its what we do and don't put on and in our hair that determines how long it'll grow before breaking off. I don't use hair grease at all or anything that has mineral oil or petroleum in it because it clogs the pores and can result in thinning hair and doesn't do anything to moisturize. I use water based hair lotions and oils. I condition my hair just about every night and I keep my scalp clean by washing my hair every other day. I use a protein reconstructor every week and a half to add strength and I wear a satin cap on my head every night and under hats. Hair that is allowed to rub against collars are likely to break off because of rough drying fabrics, even cotton. I deep condition my hair weekly because I have a relaxer. I haven't cut off any split ends because I really haven't seen many, I keep my hair under a wig, I rarely wear it out. I keep it wrapped and under a satin cap under the wig. I take vitimins that are specifically for hair growth in addition to taking biotin, vitimin e, c, and a fish oil pill. I don't use brushes, cause I don't care for the stress that overuse can cause. I spray my hair every night with a leave in conditioner, then add a light hair oil to retain the moisture, especially in the winter because the dry air dries out hair. I also use rosemary oil which has been proven to aid in hair growth because it stimulates the folicles.

I saw that another girl said put braids in your hair.... Please don't do that! every black person knows braids pulls out your hair. You should go to the salon and have them do a deep conditioning 2times a month. Also keep your hair wrapped at night to protect the ends from getting split and it helps keep the naturall oils in you hair from absorbing into the cotton pillow. Use leave in conditioners.... if you need to, curl your hair once and then wrap it so it stays curled. When using heat to it... protect it with certain heat protecting spray and/or creams. Do not use grease directly on your scalp, if you use grease, because the grease is so heavy it will clog your pores and prevent your hair from growing.

im black and a few years ago i had a hard time growing my hair. i tried doo gro and wild growth but none work at all. i tried grease also and even went to the hairdresser. when i went to college i had a indian roommate who always massage cocunut oil in my hair twice or sometimes once a week. she also made me use a herbal powder called shikakai powder/amla powder. these things actually worked so good for me now i have waiste lenght hair. what you do is go to a indian store and ask for cocunut oil. also if you have a unhealhty diet and you cant eat healthy try hair and vitamin pills. it really doesnt grow your hair but it makes your hair healthy and your body to. always trim your split ends. and dont continue to perm your hair i perm mines once a year. and black people can wash their hair twice or once a week. they only time when a black person should wash their hair every 2 wks or every 3 weeks if they have a hairstyle like braids. always apply warm cocunut oil to you scalp and hair lenght and gently massage for 5 minutes using yur finger tips.

First limit your use of heated hair appliances, they tend to make hair dry, brittle, and eventually break off. Stay away from products that contain beeswax, petroleum jelly, mineral oil, perfumes, fragrances as their ingredients. Do not use holding hair sprays or hair gels , they make the hair stiff, hard and then your hair will break off. Use a wide tooth comb and a natural bristle brush and limit your use of both items. over combing and brushing the hair, causes the hair to stretch and then snap off. Message your scalp, hair line and temple areas with the balls of your fingers. this method will cause the blood to circulate, and this will help stimulate the hair follicles, which promote hair growth. For products to use on your hair while messaging your scalp is Doo Gro Anti-Thinning Lotion or Dr. Miracles Anti-Thinning Lotion. You can also use on your hair for daily shine and body is Isoplus Oil Sheen Hair Spray.

You can. You can take vitamins that strengthen your hair and make it grow quicker. Go to a health food store and ask for the multi vitamin for hair, skin and nails. It is Vitamin B and Vitamin E, I think. Also, keep your hair healthy by using a good shampoo and conditioner. Try Phyto Organics Theratin Shampoo and Humectin Conditioner.

Take vitamins, supplements.
Keep the split ends trimmed.
Don't use rubber bands or other bands to bunch it up.
Use good conditioners/oils meant for black hair.
If you just can't grow it long you could get extensions put in.
P.S. your avatar is fine, light skinned black female...
