Why do black people have different hair than everyone else?

Before someone gives a smart answer like, “every race can have different hair” understand that’s not what I mean.

Yes white people, asians, etc can have wavy, straight, or curly hair, but the actual texture of the follicles are similar. Once you straighten any other ethnicities hair it’s basically the same, but black peoples hair follicles seem to have a completely different genetic makeup. Why is that?

I don't even know. But, good question. I might be interested in researching it myself. Asians tend to have naturally straight hair and it tends to be stronger than any other race's hair. Blacks tend to have the most fragile hair that can easily break.



I can tell the difference between black hair that's straightened and other races who have their hair straightened. It looks different. If I see a person who could be a light skinned black or white and had straight hair, I can tell from the texture of the hair whether that person is black or not. It's the same w Afro hair that's been flat ironed vs Afro hair that's chemically straightened. It looks different.



I think the texture of African hair has to do with the climate. Africa is closest to the equator and the way the hair grows offers some kind of protection from the climate. It's been a very long time since I came across this in a book. If I remember correctly, the climate plays a big role in it. Eh, I know I didn't answer Q. 😄

Asian people have different hair to white as do Hispanic people. Each race has different hair. Black hair is designed to protect from harsh sun.

There are four types of hair texture. Blacks have Type 4 hair. Their hair is less dense than Caucasian hair and grows slower. When blacks marry blacks they pass down their genes to their offspring who will have Type 4 hair.
