Use some mousse and braid your hair. Large braids, larger waves, small braids, small waves.

I have very thin/limp hair that generally will not hold a curl. I have found the best way to get some volume and loose curls is with hot rollers. If I want the curl to really stay I will use some mousse, but even without it the curl will hold for a little bit, and the volume will stay all day (and it will still look really cute after the curls fall out).

Another method that I have found especially good is using two round brushes while blow drying my hair. I dry one section with the round brush and once it is dry, I roll the round brush all the way up my hair so it sticks and leave it there while I dry the next section with the other round brush. This acts about the same as a hot roller because the metal in the round brush will get hot and it will curl your hair while it is sitting there. Because you are able to get so close to your head with the brush it volumizes the roots a lot.

Good luck, experiment and have some fun!!

If you just want loose curls and your hair is thin enough that it curls easily, I think the best way is to towel dry it after showering, then twist it and put it up in a bun for a couple of hours. Don't forget to put some volumizing product in beforehand so that you get volume without the frizz when you take out the bun. This is how I curl my hair when I don't have time to use a curler. Good luck, and happy holidays to you too!

Get some soft clean rags, cotton ones work best, in a woven fabric, not a knit fabric. They should be maybe 6-8 inches long and 2-3 inches across. You should have enough to do your whole head, maybe 25-30 depending on how long your hair is and how tight you want the curls. Then wash your hair and either dry it a little, or wait till it dries to a damp state. Then roll up sections of your hair onto the rags, starting at the ends and ending close to your scalp. Finish drying with a blow dryer or let it dry on its own. When your hair is completely dry, including the rags (this will take a while), take out all the curls, run your fingers through to loosen them a little (DO NOT BRUSH) and then spritz with some hairspray.

If you had included a picture it would be easier to answer your question. I am a licensed cosmotologist. I am thinking a BODY ONLY PERM WOULD BE THE EASIEST WAY, PLUS a good stylist that knows how to cut and teach you to stlye your hair. You maybe recommented a volumizeing shampoo, I do not recommend this, as it blows up the cuticle of the hair up and this may make the hair break, in most cases it makes the hair tangle very mad.It is better to add A body ONLY PERM , and maybe a few highlights; done with the foil method,Not pulled througha cap ( by a really good color stylist) Colour adds body and volume and if done correctly with a very good product, colour does not damage the hair, but will condition it.( be sure to use the professional products from the shop and not off the shelf; walmart,etc... Check in your area for the most educted stylist in this area, look in the shop for deplomas and certificates of schools and ASK FOR REFERENCES; IT IS YOUR HAIR AND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW ALL YOU CAN ABOUT A STYLIST'S EDUCATION, AND LATEST CLASSES HE OR SHE HAS TAKEN AND ABOVE ALL CHECK OUT THE OTHER CLIENTS IN THE SHOP EVEN IF YoU HAVE TO GO AND SIT AND JUST LOOK. YOU WILL BE SURPRISED WHAT YOU WILL SEE. If you see bad hair cuts, colour, etc... DO NOT WALK, BUT RUN !

I have had thin, baby fine hair all my life, and HATE it with a passion, runs in our family , this is what I have had to do. An option for you, but I have always colored my hair, not really because I wanted to but because it gave it volume, then, after washing my hair I let it dry to damp, part and section for rollers, apply a volumizing foam and then a volumizing jell over that and roll into medium or wide curlers, I have to have at least this much to give my hair some thickness, the longer it drys on the roller, the better, sometimes I will apply blow dryer to speed up drying time. I also rat my hair for extra volume, a conditioner always makes my hair go limp. Good Luck.

Working with WET hair, take two strands of hair and twist them separately in the same direction, from root to tip. Twist them so much that the strands almost can't be held straight anymore.

Keep the twisted strands taut and then twirl the two strands around each other in the opposite direction (without untwisting the individual strands).

They should resemble a rope.

Continue doing this in sections all over your head. After it dries and sets, remove the elastics and loosen the strands with your fingers. Use hairspray to hold the style if desired.

Some people wear their hair in the twists all day and have their style ready for an evening out. Others wear their hair to bed in the twists and style it in the morning.

Tiny twists, make tight, tiny curls, larger twists make big loose curls.

I don't know how to make Shirley Temple curls without a hair curler, but if my hair is straight one night, I can wake up with wavy hair easily just by making a few braids the night before.

There is also a variety of curling shampoos available in maybe every drugstore possible. Maybe those will help to keep your curls. Or you can use styling mousse or something.

Dear" Lost",

It depends on how much time & effort you care to put into it.

Have you ever heard of pin curls? This is how the ladies of yesteryear used to curl their hair in the 20's & 30'3. Just get a slew of bobby pins, wet your hair, and take a small section @ a time (amount depends on how much curl you want), twist it in a spiral w/your fingers, then coil it in a circle on your head, place a bobby pin in it to hold it to your head, put another one in the opposite direction as if you are making an X. and repeat w/each section until you get all of it pinned to your head. You could buy a curling gel like dippity doo to really add the" bounce". It also depends on how long your hair is. If you dont have time to sleep on it, you could use a curl activator and blow dry it carefully.

Maybe you have an older relative, grandma-aunt? That you could ask about "pin curls". Hope this helps~

And Have A Very Merry Christmas~ may you look like Shirley Temple ;-)

Maybe yo can try a Perm. Then squeeze your hair all you can up and down any way you think making the curls would be better, or if you dont know how to do it, go to the beauty salon they'll do it wayy better. Take Care. Good Luck. I did mines the other way i have super curly hair, and i turned it straight. It's pretty awesome.

Apply 'wella high hair curl energy mousse' on to wet/or damp hair,

braid hair, french braid it or just the normal plait. Make sure the braids are tightly done, so over night they won't come out or anything like that. In the morning or whenever you want, take the braids out, leave it just as it is for more detail, or lightly run your fingers through hair for more loose curls. Hope this helps Hun

ok the best way to curl your hair without a curler is to take clean socks and take a strand of hair and roll it in 1 sock and then tie it after you have rolled it. This works best when your hair is wet, after a shower without much conditioner. Also You'll need someone else to put the socks in your hair, unless you're really skilled. Also, sleep it in the night b4...then take it out when u wake up! I have straight thin hair and it works everytime..goodluck!

I don't use a curling iron or anything. All I do is stick my hair in these long flexible sticks and roll them up. I wait maybe ten minutes after I am done with my clothes and make-up. When I take my hair out I have nice and loose curls. My boyfriend loves them. You can get them at your local target. They come in pink and blue. They saved me a lot of time and energy.

Use bobby pins, after shampooing just take strands of your hair, curl them around your fingers all the way to your scalp, then pin them down with the bobby pins. If you just want curl around the bottom just start half way down your scalp all around , let dry and pick out loosely don't brush b/c you will brush out the curl. Another way is to use strips of rags, just roll up your hair in them and tie like a bow, the rags absorb the moisture also very comfortable to sleep in and you look cute in them!

there r some great products by paul mitchell and citrus shine. but even some normal hairspray from finesse or something could work too.

hairspray- at night shower and shampoo with a volumizing product. towel dry and comb as usual. take a bit of mousse or a light hairspray and lather into roots. brush your hair out. tussle it so it isnt flattened all together. pull half of it up into a clip or elastic. take the bottom parts by about 1 inch peices or less and blast with firm hold hairspry. scrunh over and over. repeat until u have covered ur entire head u should have used1/4 to 1/2 of the bottle

(yes i no, alot of products, but alot of results!!!) sleep on it and repeat in a muchhhhhhh lighter fashion during the morning. mist all over with a gloss or a light misty hairspray. to remove, shower with a heavy conditioner. if that doesnt work, leave in for 5 hours with a cap on top. if that still doesnt work, put mayonnaise (yes, i just said mayo!) in a thick layer all over your hair. cover and let sit overnight. rinse.

for a more natural look- mousse:

agaain shower with volumizing products. coomb as usual. spritz all through w/ a heat protector and scruncha handful of mousse through ur hair. flip ur head down and blowdry with ur fingers.flip up. after this step, if u need to brush it, use ur fingers covered in mousse NEVER WITH A BRUSH OR COMB!!!!! apply some more mousse and scrunch.

to remove- rinse out with strong shampoo

thi method works ok for max 3 hrs. if u need it longer than that use above!!! ok again wash with volumizing products at night. make two frnch bradis with a middle or side part depending how u want it to be the next day. sleep on it. when u wake up, mist with a lite hairspray. remove from braids and tussle, but do not brush!!! scrunch a little bit of mousse throughout hair.

VOILA! 3 methods to wavy/ curly hair

***btw, this also works with thick hair!!!! (just dont use volumizing products and dont flip ur hair down when blowdrying!!!)

hope this helps u out!!!

Well, I used to braid my hair and it went curly but it didn't stay for the whole day so I'd use a bit of mouse too. Since your hair is thin, the mouse should work a treat. Leave the braids in overnight so they have maximum bounceability.

But before you do that, I'd advise that you don't wash it everyday for a little while. Maybe every two or three depending on the oiliness. If you wash it everyday it will be harder to create waves. Good luck, and happy holidays to you, too!

First, use a volumizing mousse . Then dry hair with a diffuser. Scrunch while you dry your hair. This will help make your hair more curly.

Since you have thin hair, make sure you use lighter-weight hair products that don't weigh your hair (curl) down. Stay away from serums, gels, and creams. Stick to mousse and hairspray to create your look.

Your question is very funny because in the 60"s girls would use clothes iron to make their hair straight. They also would lay in the the tub and wiggle into their Bell bottom-hip huger jeans. When will it end? Women are the most beautiful creature God ever made. We don't need the drama mama, we love you with flowers in your hair or totally bare. Times have changed but, the men worth having have not! Kudos baby, keep the fire burning. Vanity is a waste of effort. You are who you are, ask any dead-head! Or a man that appreciates true beauty. You will be FINE! Oh I forgot to tell you Hair dressers just want your money.

There are plenty of ways to do it...

Here's a few websites that might help:

I personally have naturally curly hair but to keep it pretty and more curly (because sometimes after brushing them for so long my curls wear out) after I wet my hair I srunch it with my hands, spray some curl enhancer in it, and, this may sound weird (but it works), I put some lotion on my hands and spread it around abit, and then scrunch my hair again with it on my hands...it really works...

Pin Curls are the best. My hair is thin too, and I hate rollers. I just roll up my hair with my fingers and stick a bobby pin it. It has a lot of body that way.

Use your styling gel on towel dried hair. Section off your hair for thickness of curls. Wrap a small section of your hair around a pencil, preferably as single layered as possible. Blow dry and slide the pencil out. Lightly Spray with Styling spray so that it holds somewhat firm.

When your finished doing your entire scalp, turn your head upside down, back up and loosen your hair with your fingers - hair spray when you find your look -

Oh my gosh!!!!! You know what??? I just found the best instrument in the whole wide world for curling hair!! I got it @ Sally Beauty Supply. It's a round comb, you just put your hair inside and twirl and blow dry that section. It's awesome. They have small ones, medium ones and large ones depending on the size of curl you want. I have the medium and it's a turquoise color. It's awesome, you should try that!! :)

this isn't to curl it, but what does give it volume is if you use the cheap hair spray and sprays it on a hair brush. Then brush your hair at the roots and run your hand through your hair and shake your head around. It gives a natural (kinda messy, but cute) volumized look

a curler could damage your thin hair so the bast way to curl your hair in to get a curling gel or mouse run your fingers through your hair to separate and volumes it then crimp you hair with you hand, that should do the trick or instead of using a curling gel then you can use a voluming gel or mousse as well.

You could try this...curl a tress of hair with your finger and then place between the plates of a straightener for a few seconds and then release. This technique will give you strong and well defined curls.

I have just the thing

Use "Thicker Fuller Hair" Shampoo, it comes in a clear bottle and is green.

wash your hair.

When you get out of the shower, flip your head upside down (squeeze all excess water out) and throw your hair around, stick your fingers in it to loosen your hair from the roots

Then flip your head back, it should still be damp.

twist your hair and put it in a bun, a tight bun.

Spray your entire hair with Flexible hold hairspray (any kind willl do)

cover your hair with anything that can be used to cover it (better to use something made out of polyester, and not cotton. (cotton obsorbs moisture, polyester doesnt, and you'll need the moisture to keep the shine in your hair and the frizz out, it works, trust me.

After a few hours undo your hair lightly, and shake it around

It'll last and you'll have nice thick curs.

Hey Girl,

Here is the one and only answer.

I live in Central America.

The girls here use PLASTIC JELL.

It will make your hairl beautyful, with long curls.

You just put some on your hands and rub it into your hair.

Then comb or brush your hair.

It really works and holds the curls for at least 8 hours.

I like the braid method, even if it is wavy, not curly. Most of the methods mentioned are pretty good. But if you have clips, then you can use them. After you get out of the shower, put on some gel or mousse then scrunch your hair up in sections and clip it. You can just use your fingers to 'walk it up' while scrunching.

DO THIS BEFORE YOU GO TO SLEEP:Dampen your hair with water or setting lotion then plat it into 4 seperate braids. Then roll the ends of each braid with hair rollers.Put a scarf on then go to sleep. When you wake up take the scarf off and take off the rollers. Then unroll the braids.DONT COMB THEM. Brush them instead. Then Style it however you like.

SPONGE ROLLERS DON'T REALLY WORK!!! YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GO GET IT PROFESSIONALLY DONE!!!!Try sponge rollers. Or, get a roller wrap. It always volumizes the hair and straightens it and curls it if you don't comb/brush it out. My aunt is a hairstylist, so we both have something in common. We both have very straight hair. Thanx 4 reading this answer, god bless you, oh- and

You can try hot rollers. which work fast. Or if your hair is "Scrunchable" when your hair is wet- moose it and put your hair up in a messy bun and let it dry like that. Then take your hair down and it will be a messy coif of curls-Pretty but casual.

When your hair's a little damp, put mousse in it, twist small sections (1/6 of hair), and pin them with bobby pins to your head. When your hair's somewhat dry, take out the bobby pins and run your fingers through your hair. Spray with hair spray if needed.

For larger curls, put damp hair in a bun or in braids to dry.

Hot rollers are good if your hair isn't very strong and stays in for a while.

Also plaited hair is good, after you wash your hair, let it get mostly dry, then put small plaits (smaller curls) or large plaits (larger curls)

I have the same hair. I put mousse (KMS) in while it's damp and scrunch it while blowdrying. Another good trick is to whip up some eggwhites and rub that in your hair and scrunch and blowdry. It's really amazing that even my fine flat hair can instantly curl.

I always used rags when it was wet and you twirl the hair around them and if you do it right, you can sleep on them, they don't hurt and won't come out.

I have long straight hair and I pile it up on top of my head when it is wet and when I take it out, my hair is really big and bouncy.

I would have to see your hair to know what would work for you.

Use strips of cloth. When you wash your hair you basically just twist small sections around the cloth strip and then tie it to keep it there. Sleeping on it is the best because that gives your hair time to completely dry.

You should wash your hair and let it get dry a bit but still damp then put hair lotion in is (leave in conditioner) then put two buns in your hair 3 hours later take them out and tease your hair a bit with your fingers. It always works for me im doing it right now!!

I use the plastic magnetic rollers with the smooth barrel with a setting lotion. I apply the setting lotion to wet/damp hair and place the curlers in. For loose curls buy the jumbo rollers and roll up your half way or just roll up the ends.

get some sturdy, plastic rollers and roll in the style you want it, there are rollers for each style. You roll where it becomes a wrap, flip or even spiral curl. Tighten your around the roller if you want tight that loosen up in 15 to 30 minutes. if you want them instantly, then use them with some mousse or styling gel. if don't like rollers use a flat iron (skinny one get closer to the roots) on low heat so you won't fry your hair.

Take a round brush, or a regular brush works also....blow dry your hair as you twirl your brush. this will give you a little curl at the end of your hair.
2006-12-23 15:40:50 UTC
you can use a volumizer shampoo and a gel then while blow drying scrunch your hair until dry make sure your hair dryer is on low so that it does not frizz. Best of luck.

Aluminum foil strips. Wind wet hair around them tightly in a spiral.

crunch foil ends together to hold hair on. Let air dry or carefully blow dry.

Unwind hair, comb through with fingers or brush out. Looks like you just got a perm.

I use this method all the time. Sounds weird, but it works.

with wet hair I do my daughters hair like this: divide hair in to small sections (like your going to put braids all over). Then I hold the end of a small section and twist it until it starts to coil it's self down to your head and then put a bobby pin in it to hold it or use rubber bands around each bun to hold them. It looks sorta like mini buns all over your head. Let your hair dry over night or blow it dry with a hair dryer. My daughter likes the way her hair look in all the mini buns and then she loves the way her hair curls all over when we take her hair down.

This is fast and easy to do on yourself.

Good luck!

You could try the old fashioned way of rolling your hair up into foams or rags and sleep on it over night. That would get you tighter curls.

The only other option I can think of is hot rollers.

Personally, I have done all these methods, and I liked the look from braids the best.

Good luck!

Cut an old towl into 2 inch wide strips and roll your hair damp with them! You will look like curyl sue!
2006-12-26 05:16:11 UTC
the simplest way is to tie them in curls making tails like that it looks fashion (tails in curls) and it will also become loosely curly when you open your hair

Spray your hair with water and sit in a sauna for 1/2 an hour. I don't know if it really will work, but it sounds like it would.
2006-12-21 18:45:38 UTC
What I do it wash my hair and towel dry it. Then use a good quality mousse and put it in your hair in a scrunching motion. DO NOT USE TOO MUCH! I have had bad experience, and your hair looks greasy for the rest of the day.

Try to stay away from gell because it will harden and give you shell head.

Enjoy =]

There's a long process wherein you take a length of wet hair and roll it around your finger (downward if best if you want volume) and then bobby-pin the curl-repeat with all hair and then blow it dry upside down-you will get volume. The curl will be slightly strong at first but will loosen up in about 25ish minutes.
2006-12-26 13:29:25 UTC
i srunch my hair it makes it wavy, not curly. but i have thin hair that sticks onto my face, and srunching it gives it more volume for me. I comb my hair in the SHOWer when i have conditioner on, then towel dry. then i take mousse and then srunch my hair with it. THen i put it in to a messy bun , then blowdry. when i blowdry, i srunch my hair more.
2006-12-24 20:18:20 UTC
to curl ur hair without using a curler u should use baby shampoo. this is y babies always have curly hair and if u noticed, once they stop using it, their hair goes straight

You can use a curling iron or a straighter some straighters can also curl hair
pinkfluteangel8
2006-12-21 16:09:43 UTC
if you already have a straightener, then you can curl your hair with it.

it takes some practice, but you take a section of hair and then you put the straightener on it, and twirl it twice around it until it "boings". i'm sure theres a more detailed description on the internet.

Vanity is a waste of effort. You are who you are, ask any dead-head! Or a man that appreciates true beauty. You will be FINE! Oh I forgot to tell you Hair dressers just want your money.

What I do is wash my hair, towel dry it and add either mousse or gel. After you do that, be sure to add hairspray. If you dont, it most likely gets poofy.

what about rolling it in rags like they used to do in the olden days? or how about a curling iron?

After washing your hair, towel dry it. Add a foaming setting lotion to your hair. Part into sections and set it on rollers of various sizes. If your hair is long you can roller it vertically if you want the hair to fall like spirals or you can roll it horizontaaly and close to your scalp if you want more body.

If you don't have a sit under hair dryer, you can let your hair air dry over night. However, using the sit under dryer it will allow the hair to set firmer.

ok lets set this straigt, BRAIDS WAVE YOUR HAIR NOT CURL IT!! if you want waves try rag curls (tear up old fabric and roll you hair with them loosely) make sure your hair is damp and let it dry overnight, lighlty blow dry in morning, or use rollers, but get a person to help you with both so they look normal, or in a hurry, wet hair then apply mouse, split hair into 3 sections then take each section and twist and scrunch them into a ball then take a large clip and clip in place, when all sections of hair are in place blow dry, the repeart for a lil variation in curl loaction. they wont be like spiral curls but they will be reall little curly waves!
