i have normal black hair
& i want to dye it a very dark black, but since it is already black i think it would have to be somthing with a high blue tint in it right ?

i tried Garnier blue-black and it did not work

any suggestions ?

Hello Luis,

I work at Sally Beauty Supply ... no, jet-black is not darker than blue black.

They are basically the same color just different names. Jet black still has has blue base to it and both are a level 1 color ... which is the darkest you can get.

Sometimes the blue black may have more blue in it (depends on who makes it) but that doesn't make it darker ... just more blue :)

Ion is a GREAT color and they have jet black (at Sally's)

Hope this helps :)

Yes jet-black is darker than blue black, and it also depends and the type of toner you use on your hair. Garnier is a cheap brand i wouldn't recommend it, try going to a place where they sell professional supply for hair, believe me I've tried a bunch of stuff!

That Garnier Blue-Black should have worked. Please try it again and let it stay more than the usual 20 min. Please know that the blue effect may not be that apparent if you're looking up close (in the mirror). The hint of bluish streaks only show at a certain angle and/or certain lighting (e.g., natural sunlight, dimly-lighted places like restos). Cool, huh?

My hairdresser used Superman Blue on my hair, it's black with blue. It's super dark and when you go out in the sun it looks blue black.

maybe you should give sebatian's cellophane in black orchid a try. it gives my black hair a shiny blue tint. plus it's not as harsh has permenant hair dyes. and it doesn't transfer.

good luck!

oh and the lady above me is right...about jet black & blue black...

Sounds like we're getting a little bit scene here. Ah well... Bleach first, blue second. Get ready for dry, itchy hair. :)
