Hi i have really thick curly hair and it goes into proper curly if i apply a little moose. But as you can imagine this is a nightmare to straighten and it never REALLY works. It always stays a fluffy and not straight at all. People think i am just wearing my hair down natural when i straighten it and say "oh you should straighten it". I've tried explaining its SO hard. Someone asked what Straighteners i used and i said GHDS ( i borrowed them) and they asked if they were broken?. I do spend alot of time trying to straighten my hair so i dont know what to do! What are the best ones and the best tips for doing it. Many thanks :) x

1. get a shampoo and conditioner that says "sleek and smooth or straight" or something along those lines, there are so many different shampoos created to make your hair a little more straight, and yes they are a good foundation for your styling tools and products, and you can use a drugstore brand- just make sure to buy a different shampoo and conditioner when your finished- your hair gets used to the formula, so switch it up and then go back to your original one if you like after.

2. Hair serum and hair protector - I would suggest you to use a hair serum that is formulated to straighten your hair or like a straight hair balm. Again there are so many different products that can work well on 1 person, and not the other person. But John Frieda's hair serum is pretty good, but I suggest finding a product that has a heat hair protector and straightening serum combined in it (and yes these kind of products are worth their money, and the pricier products do last a very long time, even if their smaller). The CHI silk infusion really helps your hair feel silky and more staight but it doesn't protect against heat, maybe go to marshalls, ross, or even nordstrom rack to find discounted CHI products or "big sexy hair" products. FYI GOT2B and TGI suck, most the products are sticky and heavy and just ew.

3. Get a good hair straighter- again, from experience, the expensiver ones are usually worth the investment and last a long time and give better results. The best hair straightner I have tried is the CHI, I suggest getting the original CHI and not the ultra or other ones. The black CHI is the best, and usually returnable if it doesn't work (but it should :) ). Maybe try to see if Ulta or other stores that carry CHI & have a thanksgiving sale..and if not, you can find CHI's online for like $90 + shipping. Just type in CHI into yahoo and a "yahoo shopping" thing will appear, and you can click on the one that has a good price. or Go to Folica.com

To straighten hair, I would apply the hair serum to slightly damp hair - it's easier to work the product through. But if your apply a hair serum and hair protector combined, then apply it to dry hair and divide the top hair from the bottom part of your hair with a hair tie, and straighten the bottom half, and for the top half, section it into three pieces and straighten each piece one at a time, and apply some hair protector or hair serum to get rid of fly aways if you have them...

I have the SAME exact hair type as you!

I always use kerasilk de-frizz serum on the ends (not the top) and then flat iron it with my T6 pink straightener after i blow it dry. When straightening it, you have to take tiny tiny sections and move the flat iron slowly from the root to the end, sometimes going over it several times. all the products are pretty expensive, but SO worth it!! hope it helped
