Are they painful? How much do they roughly cost? And are they easily seen? Can I go swimming and can I sweat with them? Which type of hair extension do you recommend? How will they look with a ponytail? And, what colour should I get? (I have dark brown hair)

Chlorine, damages the hair, add hair extensions to your hair when they get wet, weighs your hair down, stressing & pulling the hair, causing them to get too heavy.

Hair extensions are like wearing hair accessories. They can be washed, and dyed, but the are damaging & drying to normal hair, but whatever damage normal hair gets, happens to hair extensions, because they are HAIR ACCESSORIES. If the get damaged, you can't reverse the damaged, you'll have to buy a new one.

I have hair extensions on mine (feather) it's been on my hair since march, but only a few strands.

I recommend BEAD EXTENSIONS

"Bead hair extensions are better for use on someone with thick hair, while fusion hair extensions can be used on someone with thinner hair," said an Opulence Inc. representative. "Fusion hair extensions tend to be more discrete, good for the fringe and crown. Bead hair extensions are a faster way of applying and removing the extensions."

Also known as I-tip hair extensions, bead extensions use a non-slip micro bead to attach a Keratin-tip hair extension to existing hair on the head; the tip looks much like the end of a shoelace tip. Professional stylists attach bead hair extensions by using a lock tool and bead loop tool. They are semi-permanent and last from three to six months depending upon quality of care.

EXAMPLES OF WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT their HAIR EXTENSIONS:

I have sewn in hair extensions. My natural hair is neck-length, and these extensions are down to my chest. They're sewn in (if you didn't already know) with black tracks, while the hair is my natural hair colour: brown. But I want to have it up in a high-ish ponytail. But, obviously, the tracks are really obvious. How can I make them less obvious?

I hate having to have my hair down all the time. I've always wanted it, but now I'm getting bored. :/

Example:

I removed my hair extensions yesterday after 4 months. My hair is really thin does any1 no any good products to thicken it?

Another example: I'm really desperate on getting my hair back on track because I've been stupidly using clip-in extensions and because it ripped my hair out they are now becoming a necessity. This is really bugging me because I like to have my own hair and I really regret ever using them now.

And another ex:

i bought 100 dollars clip in 100% human hair extensions and it hurts and pulls my hair. u shud just wait til it grows out. my hair was real short and i wanted extensions real bad and now i feel bad wasting 100 bucks on that where i cud of spent it on clothes or sumother beauty thing. ur not going to wear them after a while cuz u get annoyed having to keep clipping them in and all or whateever kind of extensions ur getting.

Another extensions, hers cost $600:

I got the pure extensions on Thursday their the ones the get put in your using a little barrel and clamping it shut . My coworker put them in as kind of practice since were both new to it but now they are hurting me really bad I have thick hair so she put a lot of rows in and the back of my head is so sore ! I want to take them out but don't want to because I spent 600 dollars on them . Is this normal or did she maybe put them in rong ?

This one says it all:

i have had hair extensions done in a hairdressers in melton mowbray 3weeks ago. i have been told they are 100% real hair but they look terrible,it looks like i have been back-combing it. if i curl them it just goes frizzy and if i straighten them it also goes very frizzy with the back-coming look. i have bought all the products that was advised and i have looked after them the way i was told to. i have had hair extensions before and they were lovely, i had no problems. i have been back 2 times to the hairdressers for help and advise and i was told that the hair is rubbing on my shoulders which is giving the back-combing look (my shoulders are not that big). i am now asking for my money back and the hair taken out but they are refusing. i have spoke to the hairdressing federation and they told me to call trading standards, they said to get them tested but i do not know where to send them. thanks for any help.

Google: Jennifer Aniston Admits Extensions wreaked havoc on her hair.

May 22, 2011: Model and businesswoman Katie Price, who was formerly topless model Jordan, is demanding compensation from a top Los Angeles hair salon after she spent $17,000 on hair colourings and extensions that she claims were botched, leaving her hair so damaged it began falling out.

Kate Gosselin got hers from a salon, and she was on the front cover of People magazine, but she HATED her hair!!!! Access Hollywood. She paid $7,000 for hers. Took 7 hours.

At the salon: 25-50 ($50-$100) extensions, they also have hidden costs, like monthly maintenance fees, one girl charge YA poster $248 more saying the salon put 120 extensions on her head, but she only counted 60.

Whatever you do, DONT get u-tip or I-tip extensions! If I could go back in time I'd never do them. I'm trying to save you days of crying. Even done professionally, the glue is crispy and hard on your head so you will feel them a lot when you sleep. Also the keratin bonds get tangled. When you put your hair up, you'll get headaches from the change in weight to your hair-light weight extensions or not. Say you want to get them out? No.-Although there are millions of 'bond removers,' they only soften the bonds. A progressional will still have to take a pliers to your hair to break the bonds for hours. Many stylists will not have patience for this and turn you away. You will lose hair. Depending how successful you are in getting the extensions and glue off, your hair will be more thin. High quality human hair is expensive and ripping it out is a waste. Ruining your natural hair by the glue thinning it is a waste. Taking 6 hours to remove is a waste.

YouTube all your questions to get more info. But 1. They are not painful. 2. The cost will depend on what kind and type of extension you want and need. Like texture, amount, how long, human and or centaric. 3. For the most part they cannot easily be seen, if you put them on right. 4. Depending on what type of extension you get, like saw in, infuce, or glue in(that one is really bad for your hair) and you can sweat with them on as well as with clip ins but clips can slid out. 6. I recommend clip ins remmy human hair they last longer, won't damage your hair, good cost (foxy lucks, pro extension, and sallys hair extension line). 7. With clip ins they have videos on YouTube on how to put them on for a pony tail. Go to a sally store for a better much for your hair color and type is a good start for bigeners or any hair store. So if you choose to order online you'll know exactly what color to get. Hope it helps.

I have the clip in ones from Celebrity Strands. they are amazing, don't hurt at all...easy to put in, they were a little more then 100$ not too bad, shipping was free...its remy hair so they last long. I wouldn't recommend swimming in it but i guess you can.

www.CelebrityStrands.com

you can find out more from the website, they have a section with all this info on hair extensions like ponytails and also a color chart where you can find your color

what is your hair type? There are different types of extensions, weave, bond, glue in, and clip in. I recommend clip in extensions they can be easily put in and only take about 5 mins. They last about 3 months and you need to spend about $200.00 for a GOOD pair!

Weave is alot of $$$$ starts at about $700.00 and goes up from their a weave is when your hair is braided like corn rows and is braided specially and then the hair is sewn into the braids. Problem? Hurts like hell and you get MAJOR head aches after and your scalp feels swollen also they are uncomfortable because you obviously cant properly shower because the shampoo/conditioner gets stuck underneath and it can cause mildew in the weave and they can be nasty but they last about 1 year.

Bonds is when the hair extensions have a bead on the end and they are fused on your hair, glue is when the extensions are glued onto your scalp i don't recommend this Type because the glue can decay your natural hair causing bold spots i know a girl who had these and she has giant chunks of hair missing.

I personally recommend clip in extensions because they are super easy to maintain and are the best for me. I got some their 215g (EXTREMELY THICK) and 20" and human hair i highly recommend them and i will link the website below (their on ebay)

Depends what kind of extensions you're getting; Clip in, glue in, sew in, etc. I myself have clip-ins, and I got the wrong color, and now I can't wear them..

If you have clip-ins, you can't really swim with them, but you can sweat. You can do much more with sew ins, they last much longer, and can go swimming and work out and.. do anything with them really. Glue in ones last about a week. They become more and more loose every time you wash them, and the glue leaves a sticky, clumpy residue on your hair, which I think is really gross.

Sew in ones, are usually done at local salons, glue ins, I just buy a long strand of hair (Sally's beauty supply; Sassy hair collection is what I recommend for clip and sew in ones.) and buy hair glue (DON'T. use normal Elmer or super glue, please!) and glue them in. Clip ins, I sew my clips on and just clip them in. (As I said, Sally's beauty supply- Sassy hair). Make sure it's human hair! Nobody wants synthetic hair that will frizz out like crazy and melt when exposed to curling/straightening irons.

If you have layered hair, you might want to layer your extensions so they look a bit more natural. You could see my natural hair length before I layered mine, but after that, you couldn't tell (besides the color). So ponytails, I think they look great :3

Have a friend come with to help pick out, or if you're going to a stylist, ask them for their opinion. (I choose a jet black hair extension, even though my hair was a soft black, I never realized that until after I purchased them...)

cinderella hair. com have a good site with videos. There is no doubt that they will cause some damage as the glue is hot when applied. They can hurt a little bit when they first go in as they are bonded as close to the scalp as poss and this sometimes pulls for the first few days until your own hair relaxes. They are expensive and need constant maintenance money spent on them, personally I think the clip ins are a really good option.
