Do you know the little sachets called Toners and Shaders? Well if you buy a blonde toner it will calm down your hair dye without damaging it. Don't leave it on for too long. Simply wash it in like a shampoo, massage then rinse. This will release some of your dye for you. My hairdresser friend told me to do this when my hair went wrong once. Also if your highlights have gone too light then wash in a 'Shader' brown and this will calm down the highlights.

Since the color is semi permanent and depending on the condition of your hair, it should lighten up on it's own gradually. If your hair was very healthy prior to coloring it then it will lighten faster on it's own. If your hair was damaged it was probably pourous and when you color damaged hair the base of the color you put on it will grab..meaning the cuticle of each hair shaft is open when hair is damaged and this allows the color to get into the strands of hair instead of just coating the hair.(using a semi-permanent color on damaged hair acts more like a permanent color..but it will still lighten by itself) To avoid damaging your hair, I wouldn't recommend washing it over and over cause it will just dry it out really bad and make the situation worse. Another option would be going to a beauty supply store and purchasing a product that strips color from the hair. This process is damaging to the hair also. You might want to go to a professional and let them do some corrective coloring and they can do it with minimal damage if they do it correctly so if you do this try to find a hairdresser with a good reputation doing hair color. I used to have my cosmetologist license and while in school I learned that haircoloring is NEVER an exact science. There are many factors that affect the way the color turns out. You could use the exact same product on two different people with similar hair and it would never turn out exactly the same and you could use the same product twice on yourself and the same is true. If you can live with your hair being too dark for a short time, I would just leave it alone for now and take good care of it by doing some good conditioning treatments to avoid further damage from heat from styling, etc. The color will definitely lighten on it's own, just be patient. If it's just too much for you and you have to do something right away then please find a good hairdresser and let them do the corrective coloring for you. I have done the same thing you did many times even though I knew better and when I tried fixing it by myself by using more chemicals it just kept getting worse. I hope this helps some...and it probably doesn't look as dark to other people as it does to you. So weigh your options and maybe even go to a salon and let someone look at it and they will give you advice for free on what you should do. Good luck!

Ok. this can usually be fixed easily.

Semi-perminant colour is designed to wash out over time.

The best way to remove or lighten this coluor is to buy a shampoo for oily hair.

Use the shampoo to wash your hair, try shampooing the hair three times in the shower. After the third time use normal shower gel on the hair. Rinse it very well and let it dry naturally.

As the hair drys naturally you then can apply some lemon juice to the hair, combing it well into the hair and all they way to the end.

Leave this on for about 1/2 hour, then rinse it out.

Then apply a good conditioner to your hair.

This will definately speed up the lightening process.

If you want a very quick soultion you can have some natural highlights in the hair to break up the dark colour.

If you cant do this or afford it just try the above method.

Hope this helps you!

You should definitely not re-dye it, If I am not mistaken you should wait at least one month before doing it again. If it is semi permanent then washing it alot will make it lighter in time, because washing it is what makes the color leave your hair on a semi permanent color. It is hard to adjust to a color that is too dark or too light ask a few of your friends you never know it may look good on you, but you may not like it because it is not what you wanted and not what you are use too.

Hair Dye Too Dark

I'd ask a beautician before you try anything too drastic, but I've heard that lemon juice works well in cutting dye. Don't be afraid to call a salon and ask even if you're not one of their customers. Most people want to help in situations such as your's.

Your success at removing the dye all depends on how porous your hair was. If it's dry or porous your hair will hang on to that dye for dear life.

Try not to use too harsh a shampoo if you're going to shampoo over and over. You'll wish you'd left it alone if you dry and stress it out too much.

P.S.

About going too dark on the dye...been there, done that.

First of all, whatever you do, DO NOT re-dye your hair as you will end up damaging it severly. Now, if your hair is still wet, give it a chance to dry. Your hair color looks darker when it's wet. If your hair is completely dry and still looks too dark, you can wash it several times in a row until the color lightens. If you do decide to wash it several times, make sure you use a good conditioner afterwards to restore moisture.

ETA: You need to wash your hair repeatedly without letting it dry in between washings. Don't forget to use the conditioner afterwards - the repeated washings will strip your hair of necessary moisture.

Tbh, im uncertain this is going to make really some enormous difference, it would want to improve into really lighter yet now no longer plenty, once you're lookign for some problem lighter it particularly is particularly functional to objective making use of a complementary colour which incorporates a gloomy blonde or a redish colour, yet thats going to regulate the hue particularly than the brightness-you would possibly want to wish to bleach it yet evaluate it heavily. probable bypass on your community hair fabrics cupboard and ask they are advice? they could want to have the signifies that could want that could help you probable carry out a touch severe lighting fixtures and advance the mid tones- hit upon a functional colour. It facilitates to take a photo of the style of colour you're looking for with you, wish that enables

Believe it or not, Johnson &Johnson baby shampoo should bring some of the color out, but don't use it every day, just every other time you wash your hair. Don't try to recolor your hair for at least a month, the chemical damage could be enough to actually weaken the hair shaft and start splitting and breaking the hair.

Semi-permanent dyes are another option for women who want to change their hair color, but don’t want to deal with permanent dyes-- which must eventually grow out or be re-dyed to match their original color. Semi-permanent dyes last for several shampoo cycles and don't require oxidation. These dyes penetrate the hair shaft, but not as deeply as permanent dyes. Because semi-permanent dyes are absorbed somewhat deeply into the hair shaft, they will not simply rinse off with water. However, they will fade after a while and usually wash out within six to ten shampoos.

PS The more frequently the dye is applied, the darker the color becomes!

Your best bet is to let it wear off naturally.

Changing hair color from light to dark is easy because your hairs pigment picks up on the darker color. However, changing from dark to light is a lot harder-unless you use a stripper or bleach (which are really damaging to your hair).

I would just suggest embrassing while it is that dark-since it is a temporary color, it will wear off in a few washes and you will probably end up liking it-besides, you don't want to damage your hair.

Dark is in these days! Good luck.

I like my hair very dark and I noticed that when I tan and wash my hair with suave or a shampoo that is very harsh like a daily revitalize, the color comes out quicker and makes my hair lighter!! Hope I helped!

I must've done the same thing myself a hundred times. Trust me, washing it a hundred times isn't going to help...it will really mess up your hair. I washed mine so much one time that it was literally "squeaky clean"...when I towel dried it, it would squeak. The best do it yourself remedy I have found is to put a light ash brown on top of it. Just try to wait a couple days before you do that to give your hair a little time to get it's normal moisture and texture back. Whatever you do, do not put a blonde color on top.

DO NOT redye your hair!!! That happend to me, I wanted a chocolate brown and the color looked black! it took about a week and a half and then the color looked more like the color i wanted. It will fade each time you shampoo, now dont go crazy and shampoo your head like 50 times in a row, that will ruin your hair... just be patient and give it a week or so, it will fade dramatically, promise.

Buy a clarifying shampoo and use hot water. Semi permanent hair color does not penetrate the entire hair shaft and will fade quicker than permanent color.

You need to go purchase a lighter shade of brown that you want, and it just might have to be the lightest shade of brown you can find and put it on your hair. I would not leave it on the entire recommended time, but it will lighten your hair enough to do what you probably intended to do to begin with.

I would definately warm you against redying your hair too soon. It could fry your hair and that would be even more unpleasant that having it too dark. Try washing it with coloring removing shampoo or going to a salon. It is generally spendy, but they can fix it for you.

NO NO NO

please go to a salon - if possible, take the bos of what you used with you. trying to bleach or lighten colored hair is

likely to do really icky things, ranging from your hair texture turning to straw, or your hair looking orange. this is not a time to save money by doing it yourself.

Or, you can wash it over and over. but don't try to bleach it or re-dye it.

just keep washing it out...OR go to a salon and get some light brown highlights...next time you dye your hair, do a strand test first, sometimes it turns out darker than it says on the box

Try washing it a few times. DO NOT PUT ANYMORE COLOR or HENA on for at LEAST two weeks or your hair can fall out. Go to a reputable salon and maybe they can use a toner.

Buy some shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair and then if it is really dark brown then buy one for light blonde and keep washing your hair every day.
