My hair is naturally very straight. I've recently got bangs (maybe a month ago) and there's a natural wave/curl and its a little poofy. Idon'tt wanna spend 150 dollars on a straightener only being used for my bangs, but i do think i should get one. what are your ideas or thoughts? if i do get a straightener which would be the best kind for my specific scenario?

Well, since your hair is naturally pretty straight you don't need to go out and spend a boat load of cash for a really expensive one. I have extremely curly hair so of course I went out and poured out the cash for the most expensive one on the market. But, when that one broke after about a month of use I had to to settle for one that was a lot cheaper. Actually I've found that wal-mart has some in-expensive ones ($15-$30) that work wonders. And they have some pretty well known name brands like Conair and Remington. If you are looking for a cheaper option you might want to consider looking for some on Ebay or Amazon but, consider shipping (make sure they are not used..ew).

Hope that helps.

Well- you can do several things I think. I have naturally curly wavy hair. It's very tight curls too. It looks really nice sometimes---on days it behaves....otherwise I like to straighten it.

Humidity does a terrible job on hair- if it's curled or poofy it will make it poof right back up within a short time after straightening it! I think in your case it would be much easier to straighten it though.

Not all straighteners cost 150 dollars. I think I got mine for about $30 at a local drugstore. Walmart sells them for pretty cheap too. Cheaper ones are not as good on your hair as the more pricey ones- it deals with the plate used that heats up and what material it is. If you buy one that is thick (like a 2 inch thick one) then it will be easier to use for longer strands of hair that you dont want kinks in it. If your bangs are really short though then it will be harder to use a broad straightener on it because you wont have much to hold onto. Personally I have a wide one since I like the fact that you cover a bigger area and that there will be less kinks in it. A thinner one is best for shorter hair. Just depends on what you want. Also- never straighten wet hair. Some products say they work on wet or dry hair- and yes of course they do- but they just dont mention that when you use it on wet hair it is literally cooking your hair!!!! How terrible!!!! I used it on my wet hair once when I didnt know any better and it FRIED It. it was terrible!!! so always do it for dry hair!!

Another thing you can do----buy straitening creams!!! Those work wonders as well. Sometimes they can be pretty pricey but you dont need much. You can use these along with a straightener to make your look last longer. Like for example- I dug deep into my wallet to fork out about $15 for a bottle of "CHI straight guard". It looks like a milky shampoo but you put it on your hair right when you get out the bath. You dont need much at all. One squirt and you're good to go. you run it through your hair while it's wet and either let it air dry or style it however you normally would. You dont use much or else it will eventually make your hair feel weird. Otherwise you hardly notice the product in there ^_^. Sometimes using 2 products that do the same thing help the result last as well- like if you were to use a straightening cream and then also use a spray too on top of that once it's all done.

Anyway, yes the more expensive ones are the best with straigteners but I think in your situation you would be alright with a cheaper version. They do an alright job. The fancier ones are best for people with VERY unruly hair. I have a cheap straigtener and it does alright but it just curls up by that night XD but my hair is super curly all over normally. So Im certain that it would work just right on your hair : ). I had one of my girlfriends who hair hair that sounds similar to yours come over once with the SAME problem. I fixed her hair with the tips I gave you and she now does her own hair at home like that! it's really sleek and sexy ^_~ hahaha XD

I hope that helped you some!!! ^_^

You could get a real cheap straightener for about 15-20 bucks. You don't have to spend 150 dollars for something that small. A cheap straightener isn't that great but I know that it has more than enough power to straighten your bangs.

Don't do it. It really isn't worth the damage. You can blow dry it, and then put a little frizz ease product on your fingers and smooth them down.
