will argan oil protect my hair from heat of hair straightener?

I heard that if you want to avoid split ends and hair damage done by hair straightening you can apply some argan oil on your hair before straightening them. Will it help? I bought hair straightener Philips hp 8310.

oil should not be applied to hair before using hot tools.. it fries the hair..however, u can use a heat protectant product before applying heat...and a bit of oil is good after u straighten ...
