if i used heat protectant yesterday before i blow dried and flat ironed my hair and i want to curl it today, do i have to reapply heat protectant? i dont want to have to wet my hair again since im african american and my hair is straight now. also, how does heat protectant actually work? do irons and blowdryers burn through the heat protectant before they can do damage to your hair? thanks in advance!

Hi! I mean, you dont HAVE to use it.. but I would strongly recommend using it! It will keep your hair breakage resistant, shiny, and softer. You can splurge, or purchase a drugstore brand. Just spray on a bit when your hair is wet, blow dry. Then , if you are going to be ironing, put a bit more on the hair.

It probably wont burn through the protectant. I really really recommend Silk Elements MegaSilk. It works well on natural or permed hair and is cheap. Good luck girl

Yes! I have african american hair too and I wish someone would have told me to always use heat protectant. The heat protectant adds moisture to your hair and basically creates a little bit of room for your hair to apply heat. Always remember also to deeply condition your hair after you wash it. And never EVER wash your hair everyday! Hope this helps!

yes, you should because your hair could get damage. I recommend you a good one that keeps the hair smooth and healthy, it's Pro Naturals Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment with Heat Protector, it helps strengthen the hair that's prone to breakage, splitting or snapping off, gently smooths the hair and form a protective mist on surface against heat damage, reduces Frizz and helps prevent further damage, leaves hair healthy, shiny and resilient and provides heat protection against electronic hair tools. You must use it after you use the straightener. Check it out at http://hairproductspro.com/pro-naturals-moroccan-oil-hair-treatment-with-heat-protector.html or if you are in Canada at http://www.rylees.ca/pro-naturals-moroccan-oil-hair-treatment-with-heat-protector.html . Hope it helps.
