Question:
How often should I wash my hair if using hair products daily?

Hey,

I have medium length hair and have to use hair products daily, is it bad to wash my hair daily with shampoo everyday? - I condition it every 3rd wash, to try and keep it healthy.

If I don't use hair product my hair is an uncontrollable mess, so I use it daily to look presentable for work etc. I've tried sleeping with hair product in; wake up and redo my hair, but I find it's OK until around the next afternoon when it starts to look greasy and horrid.

I use Schwarkopf Pro Styling ultra strong rough clay most days, but the trouble is this stuff is literally like super glue and refuses to wash out. So some days I use vo5 ruff up putty to try and prevent product build up as the vo5 stuff seems to wash out better, but I don't get any where as near a good hold as the Schwarkopt clay, or shouldn't I worry about product build up if I'm shampooing my hair daily?

Any ideas, or products people can recommend that I can leave it which won't make my hair look greasy on the 2nd day?

I don't use heat tools, and let my hair dry on it's own accord, so I'm not damaging it in this way I guess.. :)

Any ideas welcome, thanks!

you have to get into a routine of washing as little as possible. Start every 2nd day, your hair will look greasy at first, but after time it will go away, if you wash it often, hair products ir not, your hair will just become dry and you will end up using even more product

I use a pomade in my hair daily for the same reasons as you. I do not wash my hair daily, because I have to use more pomade to get my hair how I want it to look after its all clean. So I actually wash my hair ~ every 3-4 days, sometimes 5. I sleep with the product in my hair, and when I wake up i just use water and a very small amount of product to refurbish everything.

I have had the same problem as you with that superglue crap that does not wash out. You may be looking for a water soluble hair product. I'm not sure what hairstyle you go for (mine is a crew cut see a pic of my hair if you care: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v170/kavman123/new/2012-08-04_223418.jpg ) , but check out the stuff below, it is my god send. It has a very strong hold but washes out like nothing was ever there.

Layrite pomade: http://www.layrite.com/

Suavecito pomade: http://suavecitopomade.com/

I have used both but can not find a big difference in quality. Suavecito is a little cheaper per can. I think you should try one of these. Yes they are pricey but I have found nothing else like them. If you like the product you can buy it in bulk.

There is only one rule: shampoo your hair when it is dirty. I don't believe that your hair can get that dirty in only one day! If you are using a lot of junk on your hair to make it dirty, then I suggest that you stop using them! Simple, really.

Yes, you can get build up with some of those products, and shampooing will not often clean your hair properly. You will need some special clarifying products. But there really is no need to have to shampoo your hair every day, especially if it is so very long (anything past the shoulders is called "long") -- it just would damage your hair needlessly.

• try different hair products ( shampoo+conditioner)

• dry your hair with a hairdryer because you can get ill if you leave it wet and this way you can style it

• try not to use lots of hair products because they can damage your hair( try expensive stuff )

• dont use hairspray!!! its really bad for your hair whatever it says on the bottle and dont gel it!!!

Usually, which too long for me. I believe it depends on the guy and also his face though. Certain guys may pull off long hair and other folks can't.

Honestly We don't think that it really issues to most guys. Most girls simply look better with different lengths associated with hair depending on their face form
