There could be a number of reasons you have dandruff. I suffered with it from childhood up until I turned 20. 1st off I would deff stop using head and shoulders right away, if its not working chances are your like me and it will end up making it worse. That dryed my scalp out bad!! If you get certain area's that seem more dry on your scalp you can rub cortizone cream on the area's that are most dry before you go to bed(that way you can wash it out when you wake up) Spectro Gel and mild soaps that dont have scents are best, because the ingriedients they use to make shampoo smell nice can be irritating to some scalps and cause more dandruff too. If you still want you hair to smell nice after you can always give one spray of perfume/cologne overtop your hair. You can still use conditioner, but i would only apply it to the tips/mid way down your hair so it doesnt touch your scalp. If none of this works you could have a possible food allergy. I found out I was allergic to dairy products when I was 20, I cut dairy out and my dandruff and dry skin was gone, but any allergy can effect your skin/scalp. I hope you can figure out what causes it. If not I would suggest seing a dermatologist, or an allergy specialist. Good Luck!!

Other causes also could be if you go outside with your hair wet when its cold, or use any blow dryer, curling iron, or any heat on your scalp too often

I have always had good results with a Pine Tar Shampoo. You can find it at any health food store. It should cost between $5-$7 for an 8 oz. bottle. Follow the directions. You may need to use it every day for a while. There is an ingredient in Pine Tar that you won't find in the dandruff shampoos in the grocery stores. Best of luck.

Unfortunately some people are just way too prone to a dry scalp (like me) and there isn't much we can do. Find the best clinical strength dandruff shampoo you can find, stick to it, avoid the color black, and hope for the best. I've had it for a long time. the only thing that really really helps is keeping my hair extremely short. Lowest setting on a set of clippers short.

stay natural in case of dandruff........massage your scalp with almond oil an hour before you get to take a shower.don't leave your scalp dry.....always use a protien hair cream after a bath.moisturised scalp is short of dryness and so it wont cause much dandruff.....and beleive me my method really works.
